Lunch and Learn Training Workshops

The Regional Nonprofit Alliance will be launching brief topical training sessions, The Lunch and Learn Series. These sessions will offer nonprofit administrators a chance to network and discuss new opportunities and challenges. Sessions will be held on the second Thursday of the month and will occur at the Innovation Center, in room 103. The address is 340 West State Street, Athens, Ohio 45701. The first session of the year is:

Volunteer Management

Led by Gary Goosman of COAD

Thursday, February 9^th 2012 from 12:30-2:00 pm

This session will focus on the infrastructure needed to start or maintain a quality volunteer program. We will introduce what policies should be in place, how to recruit, supervise and evaluate volunteers. It will also look at the expectations of both the volunteers and the organization using volunteers. Lastly, we will cover some of the generational differences when seeking and managing volunteers. We would also like to thank Dan Farkas for facilitating the Lunch and Learn session Social Media, which took place on October 13th. We would also like to thank him for helping the Appalachian Community Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice, and Health Services with the creation of a facebook page for their organization.

In 2009, the Regional Nonprofit Alliance, together with four collaborative partners, was awarded a Together Ohio: Community Engagement Partnership Grant through the Governor's Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives to deliver high quality capacity building and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations in 15 counties.  The collaborative partners, along with the Regional Nonprofit Alliance, include Sojourners Care Network, The Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development, the Stevens Literacy Center at Ohio University, and the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University, worked together to create the Together Ohio: Southeast Regional Collaborative.  As part of this grant, a series of free workshops were offered. These workshops were recorded on DVD. They are available to check out through the Regional Nonprofit Alliance.
